I have used these passes and variations of the same on all of my visits to the UK and it still remains the best value for money as far as getting around by train. With this pass, and in particular in relation to destinations right on or just outside the travel boundaries of the pass, beware of the National Rail Journey Planner. It will always show you the most direct and quickest route to a destination but that may involve travel over areas not covered by the pass. In my case London to Coventry the planner always shows the most direct and quickest trains ex London Euston but these trains go via destinations (e.g. Rugby) not covered by the Britrail London Plus Pass. In my case I could only travel on London Midland train ex London Marylebone that took me as far a Leamington Spa and then I had to but a one-way ticket (GBP 4.00) to Coventry. I checked this with two train staff and a ticket inspector and got the same answer. Is a bit of a pain but something I learnt that helped me avoid the grief and an excess fare. Besides that urgency was not an issue for me and I just took the slower train.

2. "Great way to explore further afield than just London"

This was a great way to head out from London for the day with the 2 day London Plus Pass. I took the opportunity to visit Bath and loved the Georgian architecture and the Roman baths. On my second day trip I went to Salisbury on a Saturday, visiing the market and then spending several hours at the Cathedral and its precincts.
