Focused primarily in Germany, with service to some areas of Switzerland also available, the ICE connects all the major German cities such as Frankfurt and Hamburg in just 3.5 hours.
It services over 32 destinations including Hamburg, Munich, Berlin, Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Cologne. With speeds of up to 300 km/h and hourly service, travel on the ICE Premier Trains through Germany is a joy. Some trains also go to Switzerland (Zurich and Interlaken) and Austria (Vienna).
Currently there are 4 different ICE train types in service: ICE 1, ICE 2, ICE 3, ICE T/TD.
These trains mainly differ in the composition of coaches and the maximum speed.

- Seats can be adjusted in depth and inclination (up to 40 degrees)
- Air-conditioned carriages
- Fixed or hinged tables at all seats
- Panoramic lounges in the first and last coach of some ICE trains (1st and 2nd class)
- Integrated audio connection in the armrest, 3 radio stations: classical music/jazz, rock/pop and the children's channel
- Low noise level
- Lockers available in the vestibules for the luggage: the deposit will be returned to you when you remove your luggage
- Service crew on the train takes orders for taxis or porters
- Trolley service with beverages and snacks in 2nd class coaches

Rules
- Generally no reservations are required to travel on ICE trains, however for groups and during peak periods, a reservation is strongly recommended.
- To travel on the ICE passengers purchase a point to point ticket and then can reserve a seat at an additional price. This price is often included already when searching the Rail Plus booking engine. Check ticket conditions when searching for a fare.
- Reservations can be reserved 90 days prior to the train departure date.
