







In the city, you can spend one day or two touring sites like the Eiffel Tower and the Notre Dame Cathedral. This Swiss city lays on the border of France and therefore has a very multicultural vibe about it. This is also due to the fact that many of the world's large international organisations are based here such as the International Red Cross and the United Nations.
The city itself is beautifully laid out with parks, gardens and gorgeous old buildings. You can stroll along the River Rhone, walk the cobblestone streets and see the highest fountain in Europe the Jet D'Eau.
Travel three hours through Switzerland on a regional train to the town of Lucerne. The train does not accept reservations. They usually depart every hour during peak times and all you need to do is turn up and get on board and find a seat.
Lucerne is the epitome of what you imagine a Swiss town would be. Nestled amongst the Alps, next to an amazing lake, with cobblestone streets and medieval buildings and bridges throughout.
If walking around the lake doesn't keep you busy enough, why not check out some of the bars around town, the small boutiques or visit some art galleries and museums.
It's only a 50min journey on a regional train from Lucerne to Zurich. Again no reservations are accepted and trains usually depart twice each hour.
Why not search the many bars and cafes. Enjoy the nightlife in this vibrant city, often mistaken as the capital of Switzerland.
Direct services run fairly frequently throughout the day to Munich, Germany. The train does not require reservations however if you would like to reserve a seat this can be done either in Australia or once you arrive in Switzerland. Most trains have a restaurant car on board which you may want to make use of during the four hour journey.
Munich is famous for the Oktoberfest, held in the last week of September each year. However if you happen to be visiting at a different time of year there is always plenty to do in Munich. A visit to Munich just isn't complete without a Stein at the Hofbrauhaus located in the centre of the city you will experience real German party hospitality with Girls in short dresses holding baskets of bagels and the big chested waitresses carrying 6 or more steins at a time around the restaurant. There is always some live music happening and plenty of laughing, cheering and dancing to be done.
Berlin has changed a lot over the past 20 years with the fall of the Berlin wall and the combining of East and West Germany to create one nation. Now Berlin is a testament to all things German. Buy a German Sausage from the street stall, party hard in the Night clubs or you can use your Rail Pass to travel around Berlin on the S-Bahn and some U- Bahn Services. This is only worth your while if you are travelling onwards the same day. Don't bother using a whole day off your pass if you are only going to be travelling within Berlin
