Tickets
To check in, all you have to do is insert your ticket into the machine (which will hold onto it exactly long enough for you to start to panic, just a little bit) and then walk through the gate with your baggage. Easy. If you need help, our staff are always around, and we’ll be glad to check you in ourselves.
When To Check In
This depends mainly on what ticket you have. Unless you’ve been advised otherwise, please check-in at least a 30 minutes before your scheduled departure. Below are the full details, just bear in mind that if in doubt, arrive with time to spare. And have a croissant.
When you travel with us, you don’t need to check your baggage in - just take it straight onto the train. You may carry with you on Eurostar trains 2 items of baggage per person, plus 1 small item of hand luggage. This does not include large items (for example trunks, bicycles etc).
Registered Baggage service
If you are travelling with additional items of baggage as well as large or bulky items such as trunks, bicycles etc or sporting and collectors’ weapons or knives, it is necessary to register these items. You can do this at London St Pancras International, Paris Gare du Nord, Brussels Midi/Zuid or Lille Europe.
This service applies only between London – Paris, London – Brussels and London – Lille in both directions and applies to no other Eurostar destination or beyond those stations listed above.
Your baggage will be forwarded on the next available departure, space permitting. However, Eurostars' guarantee is that your baggage will be available to collect at your Eurostar destination station within 24 hours after registration.
This service also allows you to send your baggage in advance of your journey and then it will be ready to collect when you arrive at your Eurostar destination. However, you may still register your baggage shortly before your departure but please note there is a 30 minute check-in requirement prior to departure.
We’d love you to take your bike! Keep you carbon emissions to a minimum when you arrive in Europe after travelling with Eurostar and stay fit at the same time!
So here are a few tips to help you on your way.
If you can fold or dismantle your bike and place it in a bike bag with the saddle, handlebars and wheels removed, you can carry it on board yourself as part of your luggage allowance as long as the overall size is no bigger than a normal suitcase.
Alternatively, use Eurostar’s registered baggage service. The service operates between London, Paris, Brussels and Lille Eurostar terminals. Eurostar will do their utmost to send your bike on the next available service, space permitting. However, their guarantee is that your bike will be available to collect at your Eurostar destination station within 24 hours after registration.
This service also allows you to send your bike in advance of your journey and then it’ll be ready to collect when you arrive. If not, you can still turn up on the day.
Charges are €25 and it’s necessary to show your Eurostar ticket or booking reference when you register.
Wireless internet access is offered at all of the terminals so you can plug in and access the internet whenever you need to.
For details of where to find our Wi-Fi hotspots, how to use them and how to pay, select a station at the top of this page.
Eurostars' brand-new central London terminal is pretty swish. This newly renovated Victorian station will be a destination in its own right with boutique shopping, a champagne bar and a daily farmers’ market (definitely worth arriving a few minutes early to take a quick look before making your way to the Continent).
