Neuschwanstein Castle

Neuschwanstein Castle is a 19th-century Bavarian palace on a rugged hill near Hohenschwangau and Füssen in southwest Bavaria, Germany. It is the most photographed building in Germany and is one of the country's most popular tourist destinations. About 1.3 million people visit annually, with up to 6,000 per day in the summer. The palace has appeared in several movies, and was the inspiration for Sleeping Beauty Castle (1955) at both Disneyland Park and Hong Kong Disneyland.

In order to get to the Castle, you will need to take a train to Füssen. Get off the train at Füssen and catch a bus to Hohenschwangau (5km journey). From there it is a lovely 30 minute walk up to the castle, or you may care to take a horse drawn carriage up for some real European charm.

Most trains to Füssen are not direct, so you may need to change trains at least once. These services are typically regional, therefore they cannot be reserved.

Entrance tickets to the castle must be purchased at the ticket center in Hohenschwangau before you start the climb to the castle.
