All VIA Rail Canrail and Corridor Passes are issued as e-Tickets.
The e-Ticket you receive needs to be exchanged at the VIA Rail ticket office prior to
boarding. Please allow time to do this. We recommend at least 1 hour. When you exchange the
enclosed paper ticket VIA Rail will give you a boarding pass to present to the conductor. Please
keep both the boarding pass and the ticket until you have finished the journey.
It is compulsory to pre-reserve seats and sleepers on VIA Rail. Seats/sleepers are subject to
availability and booking in advance is recommended as services sell out over the peak summer
months. You have several options for reserving your trains.
In Australia: Rail Plus can make reservations for you up to six months in advance.
In Canada over the phone: You can get information and make reservations by calling 1
888 842 7245. Making reservations in advance is advised. Due to the length of time it can take to
make your reservations, VIA Rail advises this method of booking as the best.
In Canada at the station: You can also make reservations in person at any staffed VIA
Rail station. Due to the booking process this can be a lengthy process and this is why VIA Rail
recommend calling the 1 888 number. Passengers should not turn up just before a train is due to
depart as there is a possibility that the booked transaction will not be completed in time and you
will miss the trains departure.
